Sheila Carrasco and Utkarsh Ambudkar Tease “Kooky” Halloween Episode of ‘Ghosts’: “We’ll Probably Meet One or Two New Ghosts”

Someone call Brendan Fraser because Ghosts Season 5 is dealing with a mummy.

Each year, the team behind the hit CBS comedy has a field day crafting unforgettable Halloween and Christmas episodes for the fans, somehow figuring out ways to one-up themselves from the previous season. For Sheila Carrasco and Utkarsh Ambudkar, the actors behind the roles of Jay and Flower, this season is no different.

Sitting down with DECIDER to chat about the fifth season, the stars of the show shared details about the upcoming episode, including a tease at some possible new ghosts popping up from different time periods.

“I can only assume a possession is in our future. I’m going to guess that a mummy plays a huge role and may even make an appearance in some way, shape, or form,” Ambudkar said, referencing the mummy that Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) mentioned in Season 4. At San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, series co-creator Joe Wiseman confirmed that the Halloween episode would bring in a mummy character and that he would “play a major role,” although the how is yet to be revealed.

To that, Carrasco told DECIDER that things are going to get a little messy before they get better, as Jay and Sam (Rose McIver) figure out how to handle the already unusually haunted Halloweens at Woodstone and add a mummified character into the mix.

“We have a really awesome Halloween episode this season. The mummy that was briefly referenced in last year’s Halloween episode is coming back,” she said, adding that it’s “really wild” and one of the things she is most looking forward to the fans seeing in the new season. “It’s pretty kooky. There’s a lot of chaos.”

According to Ambudkar, this year’s Halloween episode also gives the inhabitants of Woodstone a few new friends (or enemies?) to deal with, as the Halloween episode may just introduce some ghosts that are emerging for the first time.

“We’ll probably meet one or two new ghosts that we haven’t seen, who are incredibly funny and from different periods of time that we haven’t experienced yet,” the actor said.

While there is a core group of eight ghosts at Woodstone B&B each season, there are always the basement dwellers and a few random ghosts who pop in and out from season to season. Could they be giving us a few new faces for fans to fall in love with? Seems likely. Fans will just have to tune in when the Halloween episode airs to see what’s ahead for everyone’s favorite ghosts and livings.
