Shannon Sharpe still hasn’t legally responded to bombshell sexual assault lawsuit

Shannon Sharpe’s legal team has not filed a response to the sexual assault lawsuit filed earlier this year, which created national headlines for days.

The complaint had been filed in court in Nevada in April and alleged that Sharpe had assaulted, sexually assaulted, committed battery, sexual battery and had intentionally inflicted emotional distress on a woman in her 20s with whom he had a nearly two-year relationship.

Sharpe, 57, has denied the claims and called the lawsuit a “shakedown” in a statement released shortly after the suit had been filed.

Since the initial blitz of headlines, the case has gone quiet, but Pro Football Talk reported on Sunday that Sharpe has not filed a response to the civil complaint and that a hearing on three different motions would take place on July 9.

It’s scheduled for 10 a.m. local time and had originally been set to take place on June 30.

The report noted that responses are usually due within 30 days of being served and that extensions can be granted out of courtesy among lawyers.

Reps for Sharpe’s legal team did not immediately return The Post’s request for comment.

Sharpe’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, had told reporters during a press conference in April that Sharpe would file a counterclaim against the woman, who Sharpe’s legal team identified, but who The Post has not named.

Davis had also said at the time that Sharpe had offered the woman “at least $10 million” in a settlement and called it a “big surprise” when the case was filed.

The plaintiff alleged that several times at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, Sharpe had assaulted her.

Davis claimed that the woman had been trying to commit “a classic definition of blackmail” by filing the suit before Sharpe signed a massive podcast network deal that had been reported to be for more than $100 million.

The plaintiff is being represented by Tony Buzzbee, who represented more than 20 women against Deshaun Watson during his extensive sexual assault case in 2021.
