Selena Gomez’s kidney donor, Francia Raisa, addresses feud rumors after wedding snub
Selena Gomez’s kidney donor, Francia Raisa, shut down rumors that they are feuding.
Days before the pop star was set to marry Benny Blanco, the “Grown-ish” alum was asked about claims that she was “angry” and “disgusted” with Gomez smoking after the kidney transplant.

“Well, right now you’re asking me is nonsense that has been in the media and there are too many rumors. I’ve never said anything,” Raisa said in a Sept. 25 interview with reporter Magaly Ortiz.
“When that rumor came out that I had gotten angry or something like that because [Gomez] was smoking, I wasn’t aware of those rumors,” she explained.
The “How I Met Your Father” actress, 37, said TMZ contacted her about the rumors but she was working.
“So, what you’re asking me are rumors. No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it,” she declared.
“One day, maybe we will address it,” Raisa concluded.
In 2017, Raisa donated one of her kidneys to Gomez, who suffers from lupus.
The “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum, 33, documented the medical procedure, sharing images of her and Raisa holding hands from their respective hospital beds.
“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Gomez wrote at the time on Instagram. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.
“I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
However, rumors that the women were feuding surfaced in 2022 after Gomez called Taylor Swift her “only friend in the industry.”
“I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong,” the “Calm Down” singer told Rolling Stone in November 2022.
Raisa responded to the interview by writing — and deleting — the word, “Interesting,” under an Instagram post.
In March 2023, Gomez called Raisa her “best friend,” suggesting the ladies had made amends.
The “Emilia Pérez” star also said during the interview for Apple TV+’s “Dear…” that she “will never, ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia” for being her kidney donor.
That May, an interview surfaced that Raisa’s dad, Renán Almendárez Coello, claimed his daughter had confronted Gomez about drinking after the transplant.
“There’s a difference when Selena is drinking,” Coello said on “Primer Impacto” in November 2022. “Francia told Selena that she didn’t give her the kidney so she could go out and drink.”
Raisa was noticeably absent from Gomez’s star-studded nuptials to Blanco, also 37, which took place in Santa Barbara, Calif., on Sept. 27.
In the interview with Ortiz, Raisa said she was “very happy” for Gomez to get married.
“She has a life and she is already a billionaire and I am grateful that I could do that for her,” she said of the transplant.
Celebrities who attended the lavish ceremony include Swift, 35, Martin Short, Steve Martin, Paul Rudd, Nina Dobrev and Ed Sheeran.
The “Bad Blood” singer reportedly gave a speech, joking that Gomez would beat her to the altar.
