Sean Combs appears in NYC court — as inmates give his jailhouse biz class rave reviews

Sean “Diddy” Combs was back in his beige jailhouse duds at a Manhattan court hearing Thursday — as legal filings revealed the rave reviews his lockup business class received from fellow inmates.

The salt-and-pepper-haired rap mogul, 55, who wore a revolving roster of sweaters over button-down shirts at his salacious sex crimes trial this summer, sported drab Correction Department-issued scrubs as his lawyers made a long-shot bid to toss his case before next week’s sentencing.

Combs’ 90-minute Manhattan federal court appearance came as his neighbors at the Metropolitan Detention Center — including an accused heroin dealer and alleged violent pimp — wrote glowing letters praising a supposed entrepreneurship class he taught in lockup called “Free Game With Diddy.”

“He has showed us that it is the little adjustments to our everyday lives that add up to a big
change,” wrote Douglas Welch, who was charged in 2023 with running a Brooklyn sex trafficking ring and hitting a woman with a baseball bat when she refused to engage in prostitution.

Arturo Santiago, who was arrested in 2021 after cops found a trove of heroin and fentanyl in his Bronx apartment, wrote that “because of this class I have a purpose, something to look forward to every day.”

The comments from Combs’ fellow jailbirds were meant to show his good character and perhaps get him some leniency at sentencing.

A “class outline” disclosed in court papers included a list of topics that the “I’ll be Missing You” rapper apparently covered during the six-week course offered to fellow detainees.

Subjects that Combs held court on included “Never be embarrassed – no ego,” “Time waits for no man,” and “Trust the process,” the curriculum says. A “bonus class” was also offered, including the guidance of, “can’t stop, won’t stop,” court papers say.

Another section of the class — perhaps fitting given Combs’ sudden fall from grace amid charges of violence and sexual misconduct — was titled “Failure” and included advice on “what to do when a plan doesn’t go right” and how to handle being “over budget” and “off schedule.”

The class apparently impressed a jailhouse administrator at the Brooklyn lockup, who wrote, “Excellent class. Keep up the great work!!” in an evaluation Combs’ lawyers posted to the court docket.

The court papers also hint at an alternate possible explanation for the purported jailhouse professor’s glowing reviews — that Combs has been buying things for his new friends at the lockup’s commissary.

The jailed multimillionaire has “developed friendships” with Santiago and others, and, “when able and per his nature, helps others who are less fortunate with their commissary,” court papers say.

Combs faces up to 10 years in prison at his sentencing next Friday for setting up baby oil-fueled sex romps he called “freak-offs” with escorts who traveled across state lines.

He was spared a potential life sentence in July when jurors found him not guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking charges despite two women testifying that he forced them into living out degrading sexual fantasies during their rocky relationships.

But the fallen hip-hop star was still convicted on two counts of breaking the Mann Act, a federal law making it a crime to transport someone across state lines for prostitution.

Combs has asked to be released on time served, while prosecutors are expected to ask for a sentence of more than five years behind bars.

The embattled Bad Boy Records founder waved and smiled toward a group of family and friends in the courtroom gallery Thursday on his way to and from the defense table.

“I love you all so much,” he told them after the hearing ended. “Every hour, every day, is me getting closer to coming home.”

Combs’ legal team had asked for him to be able to wear the sweaters he wore during the trial at Thursday’s appearance, but Judge Arun Subramanian did not sign off on the request in time.

He’s expected to be able to wear his own clothes at next week’s sentencing.
