‘Scrubs’ Reboot Gets Series Order From ABC, with Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke All Returning
TLC might not have wanted “No Scrubs,” but ABC wants some — and is officially getting it, too.
A reboot of Scrubs, the medical comedy starring Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke, which first aired on NBC back in 2001 before heading to ABC in 2009, was prescribed a series order at ABC, Variety reported on July 10.

According to the outlet, series creator Bill Lawrence is returning to executive produce the Scrubs TV show’s return, as are stars Braff, Faison, and Chalke, while other series alums are reportedly reporting for their shift once again at Sacred Heart Hospital.
In a statement, Lawrene said that Scrubs “means so very much” to him.
“So excited for the chance to get the band back together,” he added.
Braff had previously said what he believed was preventing Scrubs from landing a reboot to Entertainment Tonight in August 2024, remaining optimistic about its odds.
“Scrubs is a Disney show. Bill [Lawrence] has a Warner Bros. deal,” he explained. “Once those two companies figure that out, I think the people will get what they want. I think it’s gonna happen.”
Then in December, reports poured in that a Scrubs reboot was in the works.
Per Variety, Braff and Faison return as Dr. JD Dorian and Dr. Christopher Turk, as they “scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time.”
“Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way,” the logline continues.
The two actors also serve as executive producers alongside Chalke, who played Dr. Elliot Reed. Braff teased the news with a GIF of him and Faison on Instagram, while Faison and Chalke each celebrated the announcement with their own throwback posts.
All nine seasons of Scrubs are streaming on Hulu and Peacock.
