Sara Haines Interjects After Joy Behar Hogged Colin Farrell’s Attention On ‘The View’: “Can We Talk To Him A Little?”

Colin Farrell and Joy Behar got to go deep when the actor visited The View Wednesday, but the actor was so compelling as they chatted about their late fathers, addiction and sobriety, that it meant the other ladies of The View barely got a chance to ask him any of the questions they prepared.

Farrell was visiting The View to promote his new movie Ballad of a Small Player, about a man whose gambling addiction lands him in some hot water. The interview first took a turn when Behar asked him to help her unpack the “pathology” of gambling because her late father was a gambler.

But the tangent went on for so long and turned into a chat about where Behar personally likes to gamble – Atlantic City, if you were wondering – that Sara Haines eventually had to interject.

“Can we talk to him a little?” Haines playfully asked. Her question came just at the right time as the commercial music already began to play, signaling the end of their time with him.

“You need to come back because this wasn’t enough time,” Whoopi Goldberg told Farrell, who responded, “Are we done? Brutal!”

But Farrell had a rather revealing conversation with Behar before they were interrupted.

“Specifically the gambling I’m interested in, because my father was a gambler… I wonder about what the pathology is because it made my mother’s life miserable. What is it about gamblers that I should know?” she asked Farrell, before adding to the shock of many of her co-hosts, “It’s too late. He’s dead.”

“No, never too late though. I’m still trying to figure out my old man out who died six months ago,” Farrell responded. He offered some advice to her about why it’s worth reflecting on the past when she asked, “Have you been in therapy? You sound like you have been.”

“Have I been in therapy?” he asked Behar incredulously, sparking laughter from the audience. “I had to remortgage my house when I went to therapy. Are you joking? No I’ve done a bit, two rehabs and all that jazz.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
