Sacramento man arrested in ABC10 news station shooting
A Sacramento man was busted after cops said he opened fire on ABC10’s lobby in a broad daylight drive-by a day after protesters demonstrated outside the station over the indefinite suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Anibal Hernandezsantana, 64, was arrested Friday evening at an apartment on Carlson Drive in Sacramento’s River Park neighborhood after investigators linked him to a suspect vehicle, according to reports.

A SWAT team stormed the complex around 6:15 p.m., with witnesses saying he was tackled before being hauled away, KCRA 3 reported.
Hernandezsantana is accused of firing three shots just after 1:30 p.m. Friday at the lobby window of ABC10’s Broadway headquarters. No one was hurt.
The station was the site of protests Thursday after ABC yanked “Jimmy Kimmel Live” following the host’s controversial remarks about the accused killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Video showed demonstrators carrying signs blasting ABC and defending Kimmel’s right to free speech.
No protests were underway when the shots were fired and the motive remains under investigation, the Sacramento County Police Department told The Post.
Hernandezsantana was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail around midnight. The alleged shooter faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied building and negligent discharge of a firearm.
His bail was set at $200,000, jail records showed. A court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday.
Gov. Gavin Newsom condemned the attack on X, calling it “an attack on our democracy itself.”
Nexstar Media Group, which recently announced a $6.2 billion deal to acquire Tegna and its affiliates, including KXTV, demanded Kimmel’s removal this week. By Wednesday, ABC announced the late-night show would be “pre-empted indefinitely.”
The decision sparked protests in New York and Los Angeles. Kimmel has stayed off the air since the suspension, as Disney and Kimmel negotiate his possible return.
Tegna, which owns ABC10, said extra security was being brought on at the station.
Sacramento police, who declined to discuss a possible motive for the shooting, thanked the FBI for assisting in the case and urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact investigators.
