“Today is hard, I feel a deep ache in my chest to talk to you and tell you everything I’m doing and what’s going on in my life,” Rumer, 36, wrote on Instagram Sunday alongside photos of the father-daughter duo.
“To hug you and ask you about life and your stories and struggles and successes,” Rumer continued. “I wish I asked you more questions while you could still tell me about it all. But I know you wouldn’t want me to be sad today so I’ll try to just be grateful reminding myself how lucky I am that you’re my dad and that you’re still with me and I can still hold you and hug you and kiss your cheek and rub your head I can tell you stories.”
The “Dancing with the Stars” winner said that despite Bruce’s health battle, she still gets to witness his “eyes light up” when he sees her 2-year-old daughter, Louetta.
“I will be grateful for every moment I have with you,” Rumer said. “I love you so much dad happy Father’s Day. Sending love to all those who are in the boat with me or have lost their fathers, to the single moms who are the dads too, to my future baby daddy…❤️.”
Rumer’s post also included a picture of the “Die Hard” actor with his granddaughter, whom Rumer welcomed in 2023 with her ex, Derek Richard Thomas.
Bruce shares Rumer, as well as daughters Tallulah Willis, 31, and Scout Willis, 33, with his ex-wife Demi Moore. He’s also dad to daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, whom he shares with wife Emma Heming.
Heming, 46, penned her own heartbreaking tribute to Bruce on Father’s Day with a picture of her hugging the “Pulp Fiction” star.
“Happy Father’s Day to all the dads living with disability or disease, showing up in the ways they can and to the children who show up for them,” Heming wrote. “What Bruce teaches our girls goes far beyond words. Resilience, unconditional love, and the quiet strength in simply being present.
“This photo says so much,” Heming continued. “Love deepens. It adapts. It stays, even when everything else changes. But to be fair to myself, these symbolic days stir up a lot.”
The author admitted that she’s “profoundly sad today” and said she wishes “that things could be different for him and lighter for our family.”
“As they say in our FTD community, ‘It is what it is,’” Heming wrote. “And while that might sound dismissive, to me, it’s not. It grounds me. It helps me return to the acceptance of what is and not fight this every step of the way like I used to.”
“Today, let’s celebrate the badass dads, those who are here, and those we carry with us 💙 Onward,” Heming concluded.
Bruce’s family first announced his diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia, which can cause communication difficulties, in 2023.
Heming, who tied the knot with Bruce in 2009, has remained by the retired actor’s side since his health diagnosis.
The Make Time Wellness founder appeared on “Today” in 2023 and told then co-anchor Hoda Kotb that her husband may or may not know what was happening.
“It’s hard to know,” Emma said through tears. “It’s hard to know.”
Rumer, for her part, exclusively told The Post last year that while it was “scary” to reveal Bruce’s diagnosis, the family is grateful for all the support they’ve received.
“I just have such deep gratitude for the love that comes our way,” she said.
