Rory McIlroy savors Irish Open win with wife and daughter
Rory McIlroy had an emotional embrace with his wife Erica Stoll and their daughter Poppy after winning his second Irish Open title at The K Club on Sunday.
The world No. 2 overcame Joakim Lagergren of Sweden on the third playoff hole to secure his first victory since the Masters following a quiet end to the PGA Tour season.

McIlroy, 36, and his wife, who reconciled their marriage after he filed for divorce last May, were all smiles as they posed for photos with the Irish Open Trophy.
Poppy, who turned five last Sunday, adorably placed her hand on the trophy while sitting on her father’s lap.
The dramatic playoff victory in Straffan gave the Northern Irishman his fourth win of the year, just three weeks before the Ryder Cup.
McIlroy dramatically jarred a long eagle putt on 18 to force the playoff.
“To do what I did earlier in the year and then to come home and win my national open, no matter what happens for the rest of the year, that’s a pretty cool year,” McIlroy told Sky Sports afterwards. “2025 is going to go down as one of the best, if not the best of my career.
“As I said, we’re not finished yet. I’ve got a big week next week at Wentworth and then obviously everyone’s looking forward to the Ryder Cup. I’m just so happy my game’s in good shape. I feel like I’m playing well and I’m excited for what’s coming up.”
McIlroy gushed that his homecoming “exceeded all of my expectations.”
“I thought it was going to be a nice homecoming, obviously coming home with a green jacket and all that, but this has been absolutely incredible,” McIlroy said.
“This has exceeded all of my expectations. I’m just so, so happy I could play the way I did this week for all of them and get the win.”
McIlroy’s divorce bombshell with Stoll was put on display in the third season of “Full Swing” on Netflix.
The docu-series, which follows some of the world’s top golfers in and out of competition, showed McIlroy seemingly trying to escape Netflix cameras after he filed for divorce from Stoll in Florida last May.
The next month, McIlroy’s divorce petition was voluntarily dismissed by a court in Palm Beach County, Fla., where the couple lives with their daughter Poppy, Page Six previously reported.
McIlroy will play in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week before he and his European teammates take on the United States in the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black on Long Island.
