Rob Gronkowski gives scathing critique of Chiefs: ‘They’re gonna fold’

Rob Gronkowski sees the Chiefs as a team with a glass jaw.

According to the four-time Super Bowl champ, the Eagles sent a message in last season’s Super Bowl with how they attacked the Chiefs and provided a blueprint for the rest of the NFL — if you go on the offensive, Kansas City will implode.

“The Philadelphia Eagles opened that floodgate of, hey, if you punch these guys in the face, you take it to them, you come out swinging, they’re gonna fold and they’re not gonna be the team you were seeing all last year,” Gronkowski, a Fox Sports analyst, said Wednesday on “Up & Adams.”

The Chiefs were going for a historic three-peat but were instead demolished by the Eagles, 40-22, a game in which Philadelphia led 40-6 entering the final three minutes.

Kansas City dropped its season-opener to the Chargers on Friday, 27-21, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

After Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert sealed the game with a long run on third-and-14 to pick up a first down, Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones and linebacker Drew Tranquill got into it with one another on the sideline.

“What I was surprised about is when things aren’t going their way, as you can see, when they start struggling a little bit, they start yelling at each other,” Gronkowski said. “The blame game starts going on. You can see it on the sidelines. And that’s not a good situation. You want to come together when you’re down, when things aren’t going your way.

“To see them starting to point fingers is not a good sign.”

Herbert was 25-for-34 with 318 yards, three touchdowns and zero turnovers in the Chargers’ win.

Patrick Mahomes went 24-for-39 with 258 yards, one passing touchdown, a rushing score and zero turnovers. He was Kansas City’s leading rusher with six carries for 57 yards. Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt had five carries apiece for a combined 41 yards.

The Chiefs and Eagles will have a Super Bowl rematch this Sunday in Kansas City at 4:25 p.m. on Fox. Kansas City then visits the Giants in Week 3 for a “Sunday Night Football” clash.
