‘Ridiculousness’ Canceled at MTV After 14 Years and 46 Seasons

After dominating MTV’s lineup for more than a decade, Ridiculousness has finally been canceled. The network is pulling the plug on Rob Dyrdek’s viral video clip show after 14 years and an astonishing 46 seasons.
According to TMZ, no new episodes will be produced moving forward, though Ridiculousness will continue to air first-run episodes through 2026. MTV also plans to keep reruns in heavy rotation, while select seasons will remain available on Paramount+.

A source familiar with the decision told Variety that the cancellation comes as MTV — under the Paramount umbrella — looks to feature “a more curated slate of content” that “embraces its experimental DNA” and represents “different creative voices” and a “refreshed programming.”
What that means for the network’s famously Ridiculousness-packed schedule is still unclear. For years, the show has filled the majority of MTV’s airtime, at one point occupying more than 113 hours a week — nearly two-thirds of the network’s total schedule.
With more than 1,700 episodes, Ridiculousness became a symbol of MTV’s pivot away from original programming and anything remotely resembling music television.
News of the show’s cancellation broke just one day after Bloomberg reported that MTV was paying Dyrdek at least $32.5 million annually, including bonuses, a $21,000-per-episode executive producer fee, and a $61,000-per-episode on-camera fee.
Ridiculousness debuted in August 2011, co-hosted by Dyrdek alongside Chanel West Coast and later Lauren “Lolo” Wood. The series showcased viral clips of failed stunts and Jackass-style chaos, with Dyrdek and company providing running commentary and mockery.
The end of Ridiculousness marks a significant shift for MTV as its parent company, Paramount, continues to restructure following its $8 billion merger with David Ellison’s Skydance.
Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
