‘RHOSLC’ star Mary Cosby’s son Robert Jr. pleads guilty to trespassing and assault, remains in jail until next year



“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Jr. Cosby, pleaded guilty to multiple charges Tuesday, including assault and violating a protection order.

The 23-year-old entered his pleas in a Salt Lake County District Court in Salt Lake City, Ut. The incidents for which he’s being charged for involve his wife, Alexiana Smokoff — who has since filed for divorce — and his father-in-law, Shad Stoke, according to court documents obtained by People.

Robert Jr. pleaded guilty to eight charges: one count of felony property damage or destruction greater than or equal to $5,000; two counts of violation of a pretrial protective order obtained by Smokoff; one count of assault on a peace officer; one count of violation of a jail release court order; two counts of criminal trespass on a dwelling with intent to cause annoyance, injury, or fear; one count of Class B misdemeanor assault. 

Six misdemeanor charges were also dismissed with prejudice, the outlet reports.

Robert Jr. will remain in Salt Lake County Metro Jail until his sentencing on Feb. 3.

Robert Jr.’s attorney told People that the reality star had trouble accepting his marriage to Smokoff was over and has now accepted responsibility for his mistakes.

“His parents were his example and they’ve been married for 27 years,” his attorney said, referencing Mary’s marriage to Robert Sr., who serves as a bishop at the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church.

“Robert was slow to recognize and accept his marriage was over and continued to connect with his soon-to-be ex-wife. Robert has accepted responsibility for his mistakes and has pleaded guilty to several misdemeanors.”

Robert Jr. was arrested on Nov. 9 and charged with violation of a pretrial protective order, criminal trespassing, property damage/destruction, assault on peace officer or military member in uniform and failure to stop at the command of law enforcement.

He was previously arrested in September after he allegedly attempted to climb through a dog door to break into his father-in-law’s home. He also allegedly assaulted someone on the front lawn and failed to comply with responding officers.

Smokoff filed for divorce from Robert Jr. on Nov. 24 after three years of marriage.

During a November 2024 episode of “RHOSLC” Season 5, Robert Jr. confessed to Mary that he was struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. He ultimately sought treatment, as did Smokoff.

In December 2024, 53-year-old Mary got emotional as she gave an update on her son during her appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”

“Rob is doing so good,” Mary said, fighting back tears. “I am so proud of him, so proud of him.”

Mary said her son stayed at the center for one month and completed his program.

“He did an excellent job,” she said at the time. “He came out a new person.”
