‘RHOP’ Star Monique Samuels Shuts Down Possibility Of Reconciling With Candiace Dillard Bassett On ‘WWHL’: “Not Meant To Be Rekindled”

Monique Samuels may have been able to reconcile with Gizelle Bryant in the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac, but she has no plans to do the same with former co-star Candiace Dillard Bassett.

On Sunday night’s (Dec. 7) episode of Watch What Happens Live, Samuels visited the Bravo Clubhouse for her first time since returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac for Season 10.

Pointing out how much self-work she has done, one fan in the studio audience asked Samuels if she could ever see herself making up with Dillard Bassett, with whom she had a shocking physical altercation at a winery in The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5.

“There was no relationship, and sometimes, moving on doesn’t mean that you have to reconcile,” Samuels said. “Sometimes, you just see people for who they are, and you see your place, and you set your boundaries, and it’s OK to not rekindle something that isn’t meant to be rekindled.”

Samuels was a full-time cast member on The Real Housewives of Potomac from Season 2 through Season 5. In her final season before leaving the show, she and Dillard Bassett got into a physical brawl at a winery, forcing producers to quickly intervene to separate the two women.

Both Dillard Bassett and Samuels later filed charges for second-degree assault, but both of their cases were ultimately dismissed by the court.

Samuels ended up leaving the show after Season 5, while Dillard Bassett remained a cast member until her departure after Season 8.

This year, it was announced that Samuels would return as a “friend of” in Season 10. When she stopped by DECIDER’s studio last week, she shared why now was the perfect time for a comeback.

“What better way to test my healing and my growth than to go back into the fire?” she said. “It was perfect timing because I felt like I have learned enough about myself that I just went, ‘what the heck, I might as well.’”

“It just felt like the right time,” she added. “I’m in a place in my life where I have overcome so many obstacles, so many fears, and I’m promoting my book and Mila Eve essential oils. I want people to see the transformation and to know that it’s possible. They are welcome to judge this new energy.”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
