Rewards program Bilt to move NYC headquarters to Meatpacking District

Bilt, a loyalty program that offers perks on rent payments and mortgages, is moving into a nearly 60,000-square-foot building in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District – with plans to invest over $50 million in research and development and create more than 600 new jobs.

The New York startup, which operates as a payment processor, signed a 15-year lease for a vacant Samsung building now under extensive renovations at 837 Washington St., Bilt said Thursday.

Bilt expects to move into the building in early 2026. The company declined to comment on the cost of the lease.

“New York is the nation’s undisputed leader in finance and technology, and Bilt’s decision to grow and expand here underscores the unmatched talent, energy, and opportunity that only New York can offer,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement.

Empire State Development is supporting the move with $6.25 million in tax credits to encourage job creation, Hochul added.

The rewards platform is fresh off a $250 million funding round in July that valued Bilt at $10.75 billion. It has raised over $850 million in venture capital, according to a press release.

It serves more than 5 million members nationwide and employs about 200 people at its current Lower Manhattan location – and it’s growing fast.

The company said it’s looking to fill new positions across engineering, product development, marketing and operations teams at its new headquarters.

“This 15-year commitment to the Meatpacking District represents our unwavering belief in New York as the epicenter of innovation,” Ankur Jain, Bilt’s founder and CEO, said in a statement.

He added that it’s “the perfect place to build an American-made platform that connects people to rewarding experiences in their homes and neighborhoods.”

The new Meatpacking District headquarters will feature conference facilities, collaboration spaces, a rooftop lounge and transit access, as well as a Neighborhood Cafe open to the public.

Bilt allows renters, homebuyers, condo and co-op owners and even students to earn points on their housing payments.

These points can be used on expenses like travel, with more than 100 major airline and hotel partners; fitness classes; Lyft rides; and prescription refills at Walgreens.

Bilt has also leaned into local offerings like mom-and-pop businesses and restaurants, with over 40,000 neighborhood partners.

The company is on track to process more than $100 billion annually in housing-related spending, while driving over $10 billion to its neighborhood network.
