During a chat about the NBA superstar’s future on “The Dan Patrick Show” this week, Miller said he could envision a scenario in the near future where James and Cleveland reunite.
The Pacers legend explained to Dan Patrick that with the young talent on the Cavaliers’ current roster, James could be enticed to head back to Ohio to chase one last ring.
“I just can’t see him leaving the Lakers unless, unless, maybe one of his old teams come calling like the Cavaliers and saying, ‘Look. We have all this talent here. We just don’t have a guy that knows how to assemble the locker room and get these guys to play the right way,” he said.
“Could I see LeBron going home to Cleveland with Donovan Mitchell, with Evan [Mobley]?” he said. “I don’t know, possibly – but that wouldn’t be a bad team to go back and try to win another championship with.”

James will be a free agent following the end of the 2025-26 season and retirement seems to be on the table, especially after the NBA placed a special patch on his jersey to commemorate his 23 remarkable seasons in the league.

But Miller told Patrick he really thinks James could forgo hanging up his sneakers for a third stint in a Cavs jersey.
“I think he wants to have an opportunity — a shot — at competing for one more championship,” Miller said. “Is this Lakers team built for that? Time will tell us that. I think defensively they’re not quite there yet. And I think LeBron just wants another shot, another opportunity to play for that ring. But the way they’re built it’s going to be very difficult in the Western Conference.”
James began his career in Cleveland in 2003. He left for Miami in 2010, but rejoined the Cavs in 2014. He went on to leave his hometown team once more in favor of the Lakers in 2018.
