Ranking the playoff-worthy starting pitchers who could hit deep trade market

LAS VEGAS — In a rarity, the trade market for starting pitchers may actually outstrip the free agent market. There’s depth in the trade market almost to match the free agent market, but there’s also one bona fide superstar starter who could hit the trade market — Tarik Skubal — who’s adding big intrigue.

While it remains uncertain whether Skubal’s Tigers will seriously entertain trade offers now, speculation about the possibility is growing.

With the Tigers having little chance to re-sign Skubal as he heads into his walk year now — as The Post reported, they were eons apart when they spoke a year ago (more on that below) — most rival GMs interviewed expect them to at least test the trade market via talks.

One executive opined that Skubal does indeed get traded. However, most still say they believe the Tigers, seen as a cool and calculating club, would gauge interest but stop short of moving him now.
