Prince Andrew thrown ‘under the bus’ when royal family stripped titles: biographer

The royal family threw disgraced Prince Andrew “under the bus” when they stripped him of his titles this week — potentially opening him up to a police probe, his biographer claimed Friday.

The bombshell move to formally shun Andrew by removing his titles and evicting him from his residence shows the royals have essentially wiped their hands clean of any controversy tied to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, according to royal historian and author Andrew Lownie.

“I’ve been saying for some time they’re going to throw Andrew under the bus to save themselves and this is the first indication of that,” Lownie told The Mirror.

He added that the move could open the floodgates to a police investigation — and only further add to Andrew’s humiliating downfall.

“I don’t think it’s the end of it. I think there are many more disclosures to come, but at least they’re taking some decisive action,” Lownie said of the royals’ decision to distance themselves from Andrew.

“So, I don’t think it’s all over for him.”

Lownie said the royals were likely forced to make a decision on Andrew after Epstein’s most prominent accuser, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, leveled disturbing allegations against the ex-prince in her posthumous memoir.

“This should have been done years ago,” Lownie said.

“I think it’s been Virginia Giuffre’s book that kind of made the palace realize that there is a big problem here.”

Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, had long claimed she was forced to have sex with Andrew when she was just a teen.

She further detailed the alleged horrifying encounters in her memoir — including one instance where Andrew creepily kissed her feet and then abused her.

Andrew has repeatedly denied the allegations.

The royals, meanwhile, have faced increasing pressure in recent months after it was revealed Andrew had maintained ties with Epstein years after he claimed to have severed communication.
