Plane passenger blasted for slapping man amid a panic attack: video

Both fight and flight responses are at play here.

An airplane passenger has been shamed online after slapping a fellow flyer who was experiencing a panic attack on an Indigo flight, as seen in shocking viral footage.

The sky-high smackdown occurred Friday during an Indigo flight from Mumbai to Kolkata, India, Jam Press reported.

The victim, identified as Hossain Ahmed Mazumder, is seen looking visibly distressed as crew members escort him down the aisle, India Today reported. Then, all of a sudden, a seated male passenger in glasses slaps the fellow traveler in the face, prompting other flyers to chastise him over the insensitive action.

“We all have problems,” one can be heard saying. “But you shouldn’t have raised your hand.”

The camera person also laid into the assailant. “You don’t have the right to hit anybody, do you understand?” they declared. “He’s having a panic attack. Just give him some water.”

Following the onboard assault, Mazumdar said his “entire head hurt really bad,” India Today reported.

The slap-happy passenger was subsequently removed from the aircraft and reported to police, before being placed on Indigo’s no-fly list.

“At IndiGo, the safety and well-being of our customers and crew remain our foremost priority,” an airline spokesperson said. “Following due diligence, the incident involving an unruly customer has been formally reported to the relevant authorities for necessary action.”

They added, “In line with our commitment to discourage such unruly behavior onboard flights, the individual has been suspended from flying on any IndiGo flights, in accordance with regulatory provisions.”

Mazumder reportedly vanished following the incident, before he was located a day later at a railway station in Barpeta, Assam, around 500 miles from Kolkata.

Mazumder’s family grew alarmed when he didn’t arrive on a connecting flight from Kolkata to Silchar in line with his itinerary, the Indian Express reported.

Police subsequently confirmed that he had taken the train to Barpeta instead, and when last reported, was en route to Silchar.
