Phillies extend Kyle Schwarber qualifying offer before free agency
The Phillies extended qualifying offers to designated hitter Kyle Schwarber and lefty starter Ranger Suarez on Thursday in unsurprising moves.
Neither player is expected to accept the one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offers, with Schwarber and Suarez looking at potentially lucrative contracts in free agency.

Should they reject the offers and sign elsewhere, then the Phillies would receive compensatory picks after the fourth round of the 2026 draft.
The two have until Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. ET to decide whether to accept their qualifying offers.
The Phillies have stated that they would like to bring back Schwarber and Suarez. However, that could be a tough task for Philadelphia’s front office, and there will be no shortage of teams interested in trying to lure in both.
The Athletic’s Tim Britton projects Schwarber will receive a five-year, $145 million contract this offseason.
Schwarber is a three-time MLB All-Star, which includes 2025 when he was the National League home run leader with 56.
He hit .240/.365/.563 with 132 RBIs and is a finalist — along with Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani and Mets right fielder Juan Soto — for National League MVP.
Suarez posted a 3.20 ERA and struck out 151 batters over 26 starts in 2025.
