During the third quarter at Soldier Field, Manning explained that he failed to book Pope Leo, who is a Chicago native, as one of the four guests on the show, which he co-hosts with his brother, Eli Manning.

“Kind of like when I failed to recruit Randy Moss to Tennessee, I couldn’t close the Pope,” Peyton said, referring to his playing days with the Volunteers. “But I made the effort, Eli. And that’s the kind of effort we make here at ESPN2.
“I tried my hardest… Look at these two hand-written letters I wrote. I wrote his Holiness, himself and I wrote his executive assistant… I made the effort… and if you’re watching your holiness, this is an open invitation come on the show anytime.”
The two-time Super Bowl champ showed the two letters on the ESPN2 broadcast.
Peyton added that Pope Leo on the list of guests that viewers want to see appear on the show, including Tiger Woods, Bradley Cooper, President George Bush and Larry David.
“Y’all are on our most wanted on that list for the ‘MannningCast’ come anytime, we’d love to have you, your Holiness,” Peyton said.
Actor Bill Murray, star Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss appeared on the “ManningCast” on Monday night.
It comes after Pope Leo received a custom jersey from Manning’s alma mater, the University of Tennessee last week.
The Vikings rallied in the quarter quarter for a 27-24 win over the Bears.
Pope Leo, who attended Villanova, is also a White Sox fan.
The Bears play the Commanders on “MNF” on Oct. 13.
