Based off the bestselling romance book by Emily Henry, “The People We Meet on Vacation” follows Poppy (Bader), a travel writer who waits all year for her annual summer trip with her best friend and polar-opposite Alex. After one disastrous summer and two years of silence, Poppy hatches a plan to bring the pair back together for one final vacation.

See below for Bader’s six must-read book recommendations.

Book cover for Dean Koontz's "Life Expectancy" featuring a clock face with tree branches and two birds.

“A prophecy, and one of the greatest mysteries I’ve ever read. It made me cry … and laugh.”

Book cover for "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion, a National Book Award winner and national bestseller.

“My introduction to Joan Didion, whose voice has stuck with me since my first read. A moving and tragic exploration of grief and love.”

Illustration of the book cover for "The Secret Garden," featuring a young girl in a plaid coat and hat holding keys, standing in front of a rustic door surrounded by bare trees and vines.

“A childhood favorite that always makes me feel at home when I come back to it. My Grandma took me to see the play when I was young, and it was one of the reasons I fell in love with acting.”

Book cover for "Then Again" by Diane Keaton, featuring a black and white photo of Keaton wearing a hat, smiling, and lounging.

“A beautiful memoir by one of my favorite actresses. I found it powerful how Diane uses her mother’s diary to explore their relationship and to better understand herself. Non-linear and a very effortless read.”

Cover for the book "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, featuring a painting of a young woman reading.

“Elizabeth Bennett is metal. A book that never gets old the more you go back to it. I’ve read probably 12 times.”

Book cover for "House of Hollow" by Krystal Sutherland, featuring a woman's face adorned with flowers and insects, with tear-like drips on her cheeks.

“A perfect book to read on a stormy winter day at the beach. Grab a blanket, a hot cup of tea and lock in.”
