Passenger endures flight next to seatmate’s ‘poop smears’

It was a real crappy landing.

A Delta passenger is raising a stink after sitting next to a foul-smelling passenger who reportedly soiled themselves during a five-and-a-half-hour trip from Florida to Los Angeles, California. They detailed their odiferous flight in a post taking off on Reddit.

In the smelly story, captioned “5.5-hour flight next to a human biohazard,” the poster said they initially thought the flight was “smooth sailing” as it was direct.

However, the flyer realized they were “SOL” (s—t outta luck) when an “older gentleman” boarded with “airline assistance” and “no companion” and got seated right next to them, they wrote.

The Post reached out to Delta and the passenger for comment.

“Turns out he had some serious mobility issues, which meant I was effectively window-seat-prisoned for 5.5 hours,” the passenger recalled. “Every breath was a gamble. The flight attendants kept checking on him and assessing the situation.”

Unfortunately, that was just the tip of the iceberg as upon landing, the Redditor’s seatmate “immediately stood up” against instructions” and that’s when the true horror revealed itself.”

“There were literal poop smears on the seat. And on him,” the traveler recalled. “I had spent an entire cross-country flight marinating in that odor.”

They continued, “As I stumbled off the plane in shock, one of the flight attendants said, ‘I’m so sorry you had to deal with that. Why didn’t you ask for a mask?’ Lady, I needed an exorcism.”

In light of the malodorous incident, Delta reportedly apologized to the passenger and offered them free miles as compensation, per a screenshot of their mea culpa.

“At Delta, we take pride in delivering an exceptional experience, providing reliable and thoughtful service at every moment of your travel journey,” airline reps wrote. “On your recent trip with us, we didn’t live up to that commitment and we want you to know we’re sorry.”

They added, “Please accept 5,000 miles, along with our heartfelt apology and commitment to be better for you and all Delta customers.”

The Redditor deemed the gesture “nice,” but said they probably “deserved therapy and several showers.”

The Reddit commenters found Delta’s reparations stingy at best. “5000 miles is not enough,” said one. “That’s horrible and unacceptable. Demand something you feel it more appropriate for what you experienced.”

Another wrote, “5,000 is about $50…literally nothing. I feel bad for that guy though…maybe he was also feeling terrible. But yeah, I only fly Delta, and I sing their praises, but that’s literally like his giving you a small coupon.”

Others raised concerns that the seat wasn’t cleaned properly after the accident.

“I want to know if they removed the entire contaminated seat before the plane departed again, or did the cleaners just spray it with Lysol?” said one. “This is a literal biohazard.”
