Panthers’ Jaycee Horn involved in car accident on way to practice

Star Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn was involved in a car accident on his way to practice Wednesday morning, the team announced, but appears to have avoided any serious injury.

According to the Panthers, “no one involved in the incident was transported by emergency medical personnel,” and Horn, 25, was alone in his car during the accident at the corner of Mint and Morehead Streets near the south side of Bank of America Stadium, where the Panthers play.

Horn is being held out of Wednesday’s joint practice with the Browns after being evaluated by the Panthers’ medical staff.

Back in March, Horn agreed to what was a record-breaking four-year, $100 million contract, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history based on average annual value.

Derek Stingley of the Texans got a three-year, $90 million contract extension shortly thereafter.

And last month, the Jets gave Sauce Gardner a four-year, $120.4 million contract to edge Stingley as the highest-paid corner.

Horn, the son of former Pro Bowl receiver Joe Horn, was the No. 8 overall pick by the Panthers in 2021. He played just three games as a rookie and six games during the 2023 season due to injuries, but he earned his first Pro Bowl nod in 2024 after recording 68 tackles, 13 passes defended, two sacks and an interception in 15 games.
