Pam Bondi’s chaotic hearing: Letters
The Issue: Pam Bondi’s responses to Democrats during her Senate Judiciary Committee testimony.
I was shocked watching Attorney General Pam Bondi respond to questions from Democratic senators with personal insults, while their Republican colleagues remained silent (“Bondi grills her grillers,” Oct. 8).
I’m not saying congressional hearings in the past weren’t contentious; they most certainly were.

But previous lawmakers never would have allowed their fellow committee members to be subjected to the kinds of demeaning insults Bondi was hurling.
If you ask me, the GOP’s silence on Tuesday was clearly deafening.

The purpose of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing was to provide oversight on the Justice Department’s activities, but that goal was never accomplished.
Instead, the highest law enforcement officer in the land resorted to angry personal attacks on Democratic senators attempting to fulfill their core responsibility of fact gathering, which is the essential basis for accountability in government.
The only thing more shameful than Bondi’s hostile behavior was the complicity of Republicans on the committee in the delegitimization of the oversight process.

Pam Bondi demonstrated that she is a tirelessly devoted shill and propagandist for her boss, rather than for the laws of the United States.
She reported on three truly bad migrants in Chicago: an illegal from Mexico who beat a 21-year-old to death, a Sinaloa narco-terrorism boss and El Chapo’s son.
She gave the impression that the other thousands of undocumented immigrants living in Chicago are just as bad.
I learned enough in school to dispute these kinds of smear campaigns against brown-skinned immigrants.

Pam Bondi was disgraceful yesterday.
She would not answer any questions, and all she did was protect President Trump.
Things need to change in our government.
For starters, let’s see the Epstein files.
Let’s see the names of all the rich white men who were involved with this child rapist.
Then let’s remind Bondi what her responsibilities are.

The Issue: Zohran Mamdani’s tweet accusing Israel of launching a “genocidal war” on Oct. 7.
Zohran Mamdani accussing Israel of launching a genocidal war is a triple insult (“Zoh’s note draws furor,” Oct. 8).
First, this is a not a genocide — it’s a war.
Unfortunately, people die in war.
Second, this is a war that was started by Hamas.
The group invaded Israel, killed 1,200 Israelis and took around 250 hostage.
This is a war for Israel’s security and its borders.
Third, his pronouncement came on the anniversary of Oct. 7. On one hand, he said that the Hamas killings were wrong, but then he said the Israeli response has been a genocide.
In other words, to him, the Oct. 7 massacre is trivial.
No self-respecting Jew should vote for this man.

In a “genocidal war,” tens of thousands of men, women and children are forced to strip naked and kneel at the edge of a pit where they are executed at point blank range (as was done to Jews by the Nazis at Babi Yar in 1941).
What perpetrators of genocide do not do is offer freedom to dozens of violent terrorists to free one kidnapped hostage, as Israel has done.
The real question is whether Zohran Mamdani and his fellow travelers in Jew hate are either too ignorant to understand history, or so bigoted that they feel free to ignore it.
