Palling around with ‘terror co-conspirator’ shows Mamdani thinks he just can’t lose
What hubris: Zohran Mamdani seems so convinced he has the mayor’s race in the bag, he’s happily embracing the most extremist elements of his coalition.
How else to explain his Friday visit to Masjid At-Taqwa, the Bedford-Stuyvesant mosque of imam Siraj Wahhaj, which the candidate freely publicized on X?

Prosecutors list Wahhaj as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, as several of the plotters were members of his mosque; he even publicly defended the conspirators, insisting the FBI and CIA are somehow the “real terrorists.”
He also testified in support of Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman — the infamous “blind sheik” linked to multiple terror attacks and convicted in the 1993 plot to bomb multiple New York City landmarks.
Wahhaj denies any ties to terrorism, and also claims that he’s the one who pointed the authorities at three of his children, who were convicted in 2018 after keeping 11 kids in a New Mexico compound, allegedly training them to carry out terror attacks.
None of that was sufficient to steer Mamdani away from a happy visit with Wahhaj, complete with a smiling selfie.
Nor was the cleric’s notorious anti-gay preaching any barrier.
Then again, Mamdani’s Muslim fans seem willing to overlook his support for decriminalizing prostitution.
It’s beyond bizarre how the global left gets along with Islamic extremists; the only thing they have in common is hatred for the Western traditions of free thought, free speech and free markets — but apparently that’s enough.
At this point, Mamdani would probably be willing to pal around with 9/11 plotters, if any still lived.
The candidate dodged questions Sunday about Wahhaj, offering only his usual grin in lieu of any comment; he plainly figures he can smile his way to Gracie Mansion.
If he proves correct, it’s going to be a very long four years for New York’s non-extremist majority.
