Paige Spiranac reveals why her dating life is off limits on social media

Paige Spiranac is an open book, but there’s one chapter she’s keeping closed.

When taking part in an Instagram Q&A with fans Tuesday, the famed golf influencer was asked why she keeps her personal life private on social media and referenced her failed marriage to athletic trainer Steven Tinoco in her explanation.

“So, I was previously married,” Spiranac began in an Instagram Story. “I got married young, and when it didn’t work out, I decided that I was never, ever, ever, ever going to share my personal life online ever again. Still, to this day, many years later, the amount of messages that I get that are horrible and harassing about a previous relationship, just really made up my mind that I was never going to publicly talk about that side of my life, friends or family, ever again.”

Spiranac, 32, wed Tinoco in 2018.

Four years later, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit alum confirmed in a fan Q&A that she’s “no longer married.”

Of shielding her private life, the “Happy Gilmore 2” actress said it’s all about protecting her peace.

“More for my mental wellbeing and my sanity,” Spiranac said in the Instagram Story. “I am so vulnerable online, and I share so much about myself, I’m very open and honest, that I want to keep a little part of something to me, and that is just what I have decided to do. I think people would assume that, ‘Oh, it’s cause guys follow you, and you don’t want to lose your audience,’ no, really, this is just to protect my sanity, and I just never want to go through that again. Because if you never put anything online, you never owe anyone an explanation.”

Spiranac echoed similar sentiments in the past, noting that when a private relationship enters the public space, an audience is entitled to pry.

“Having a public relationship is very difficult, and as soon as you make it public, you’re giving everyone the right to ask questions and you have to then answer them,” she said in 2022, according to The Spun.

“… If I do post about it, and I end up breaking up with that person, I then have to talk about the break-up cause I owe that to everyone because I made my relationship public.”

Elsewhere on Tuesday’s fan engagement, Spiranac answered questions about her proudest moment, career paths beyond content creation and her experience working on the “Happy Gilmore” sequel that recently dropped on Netflix.

“I got to shoot my scene with Adam Sandler and he is one of the most genuine, funny, kind, humble human beings that you forget he is Adam Sandler,” Spiranac gushed of “Happy Gilmore 2’s” leading man.

Spiranac appeared in the golf comedy as an employee at a sporting goods store who assists Sandler’s titular Happy Gilmore with a golf simulator.

She attended the film’s New York premiere last month.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
