‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ Episode 4 Exclusive Clip: The Magic Moment Jamie’s Mom Ellen Meets Claire’s Mom Julia
The intriguing hook behind Starz’s new series Outlander: Blood of My Blood is the idea that long before Claire (Caitriona Balfe) fell back in time through the stones, her parents did the same…and met her future soulmate Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) parents in the process.
So far, on Outlander: Blood of My Blood, we’ve seen Claire’s mom, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield), take refuge in a sweet friendship with Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) at Castle Leathers, while Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) has been seen hanging around Ellen MacKenzie’s (Harriet Slater) home of Castle Leoch. In Blood of My Blood Episode 4 “A Soldier’s Heart,” however, the moms finally meet!

In this exclusive clip from Outlander: Blood of My Blood Episode 4, fans can see Jamie’s mother Ellen and Claire’s mum Julia hash it out about the upcoming Beltane festival and a certain bit of folklore.
The clip opens with Ellen complaining to Julia that she’s “to attend the festival at Inverness with Malcolm Grant, then locked in a dance wi’ him for 100 years if the faeries have their way.”
Malcolm Grant (Jhon Lumsden), of course, is the son of the powerful rival laird Isaac Grant (Brian McCardie), and he’s sweet on Ellen. Her brother Colum (Séamus McLean Ross) has very obvious designs to marry the two.
However, Julia doesn’t care as much about clan politics as she does about this mention of dancing for “100 years.”
Ellen explains the legend: “On Beltane, otherworldly creatures emerge to play their music, luring travelers to their faerie hill. There’s one such hill near that festival. ’Tis but a night of dancing for these travelers. But when they return home, they discover that 100 years have passed, and all they’ve ever kent is gone.”
Sound familiar to Outlander fans? Because it certainly does to the temporarily displaced Julia. She immediately asks if this hill is close to some Standing Stones. Ellen confirms that it is.
So how did Julia find herself face-to-face with Ellen MacKenzie in the first place? What will the desperate time traveler do with this information about the upcoming Beltane festival? And what happens next to Claire and Jamie’s parents? You’ll have to tune into Outlander: Blood of My Blood Episode 4 “Heart of a Soldier” when it drops on the Starz app tonight at midnight or airs tomorrow night on Starz at 8 PM.
