Oddsmakers still not sold on red-hot, MLB-best Milwaukee Brewers
At 76-44, the Brewers have the best record in baseball by six games heading into Friday’s play.
They’ve won 12 straight games and gone a ridiculous 26-4 over their last 30, which is one of the best month-long stretches in recent MLB history.

And yet, oddsmakers still aren’t quite sold on the Brew Crew being the best team in the league.
Despite this unbelievable run, Milwaukee still has the third-best odds (+400, FanDuel Sportsbook) of winning the National League pennant behind the Dodgers (+210) and Phillies (+380).
Given the relative weakness of the American League, they also have the third-best odds to win the World Series (+800), but that’s barely above lower-tier contenders like the Mariners, Blue Jays, Padres, Tigers, Astros, and Yankees, who are all between 10/1 and 13/1.
Although Vegas bookies may still be underestimating them, the Brewers have come a long way from their preseason projections.
Before Opening Day, Milwaukee was far from a guarantee to make the playoffs, sitting at +125 to make the postseason, and a huge long shot to win it all at 50/1, both of which ranked in the bottom half of the league.

The Brewers have gone on this run thanks to one of the deepest rosters in baseball, although it’s full of relative unknowns, which probably explains why oddsmakers and bettors don’t believe in them just yet.
Christian Yelich, Jackson Chourio and William Contreras are perhaps the biggest names on the position-player side, but they are also getting huge production from guys like Brice Turang, Isaac Collins, and Sal Frelick.
The same could be said about their pitching staff.

Freddy Peralta is their ace, and Brandon Woodruff has starred in his return from injury, but fellow starters Chad Patrick, Quinn Priester, and flame-throwing rookie Jacob Misiorowski, along with a deep bullpen, have helped them to the third-best team ERA in baseball (3.59).
The Brewers can’t stay this hot through the end of the season, but if they finish strong enough, don’t be surprised if they’re the World Series favorites come October.
