The rules say cannabis sellers can offer “discounts, coupons, points-based reward systems, customer loyalty programs, bundled discounts.”

Regulators had first proposed lifting the ban on discounts last year and gave final approval at Thursday’s meeting.

The weed dealers have been asking for such authority since the industry launched three years ago.

Discounted prices on cannabis gummies, oils and flowered marijuana can now be offered to veterans, seniors and young adults over 21, said joyous weed dealers.

That could mean buying two 10-packs of pre-rolled joints for the price of one, among other sales.

“These changes pave the way for dispensaries to operate more like other retail sectors, enabling them to show appreciation for their customers, build loyalty, and differentiate themselves in a competitive market,” said Empire Cannabis Manufacturing Alliance President Mack Hueber.

He thanked Gov. Kathy Hochul and cannabis regulators for listening to the growing legal marijuana industry.

One operator said he intends to immediately offer discounts to veterans in honor of the just past Veterans’ Day.

“That’s amazing. It’s long overdue,” said Osbert Orduna, a military vet himself who runs The Cannabis Place in Middle Village, Queens.

He said his other cannabis store in New Jersey always had the authority to offer discounted sales on merchandise.

“These new rules normalize the cannabis industry. It gives us the right that other businesses have to offer discounts,” Orduna said.
