NYC maniac attacked ex’s 12-year daughter with needle, fork — and left ‘sharp object’ jammed in her brain: prosecutors

A 12-year-old Bronx girl was so viciously attacked by her mom’s ex that she needed surgery to remove “an unknown sharp object from her brain,” prosecutors revealed Wednesday.
Joshua Burnside, 28, allegedly used a crochet needle, a spoon, a fork, a plate and tongs to attack the youngster during the gruesome Oct. 22 assault — including ramming a “tool” into the girl’s nose so violently that she suffered injuries to both eyes, according to a criminal complaint.

The shocking new details emerged as Bronx prosecutors arraigned Burnside on upgraded attempted murder charges in the attack that also left the injured girl’s mom, model Karizma Dabney, with multiple stab wounds to her head and stomach, the DA’s office said.
Burnside is accused of stabbing Dabney during the vicious assault in her East 173rd Street apartment.
The wounded mom, who was stabbed in the head and stomach, frantically kicked on neighbors’ doors in a desperate attempt to save her daughter’s life, neighbors told The Post.
“She was kicking my door and screaming something like, ‘Oh my God! Oh my God!’ ” one resident said. “It was when the cops got here that she told the cops that she was stabbed. And then that her kids were still inside and [the suspect] wouldn’t open the door and let her back inside.”
He said that after cops took Burnside away, “[Dabney] said something like, ‘Oh, this is what I get for allowing him to come visit his kids’ or something like that. ‘I allow him to come see the kids, and that’s what ended up happening.’“
The injured girl was rushed to Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center in Queens, where she underwent surgery “to remove an unknown sharp object from her brain and to treat sharp force injuries to her body,” according to the criminal complaint.
Prosecutors said the youngster, whose name is being withheld, was stabbed “numerous times about the face and body with various sharp objects, including but not limited to a knife, fork, spoon, plate, tongs, crochet needle, and other sharp metal objects causing multiple bleeding lacerations, as well as extreme swelling and bruising to both eyes.”
Dabney underwent surgery on her stomach, prosecutors said.
Burnside was arrested and charged with assault and child endangerment in the alleged attack, and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for an undisclosed reason.
He was later transferred to Bellevue Hospital, and was arraigned from his hospital bed Wednesday on attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment charges.
He was ordered held without bail.
