NYC charter school teacher caught getting dressed with 13-year-old student after meeting for sex: DA

A Bronx middle school teacher allegedly raped his 13-year-old student repeatedly inside her own home until the victim’s older sister walked in on them getting dressed, prosecutors said Thursday.

American Dream Charter School seventh-grade math teacher William Jones, 32, of Queens, was indicted in Bronx criminal court after he allegedly targeted the teen girl between April 28 and June 2, the Bronx District Attorney’s office said.

The sickening sexual assaults allegedly happened inside the girl’s home while her family was out, according to prosecutors.

But the victim’s sibling helped put an end to the alleged rapes when she spotted them putting their clothes back on during the last incident, according to the DA’s office.

The girl’s mother then found explicit texts, including photos and videos, of male genitals on her daughter’s phone and confirmed through the school the number allegedly belonged to Jones, prosecutors said.

The parent then called the NYPD to report the teacher.

“The defendant engaged in disturbing and predatory conduct, made worse by the fact that he is a schoolteacher entrusted with the care and safety of students,” DA Darcel Clark said in a statement. “Exploitation of the young and vulnerable will not be tolerated.”

Jones, who the district’s attorney office said has left his job, is facing eight counts of rape, another four counts of sexual misconduct and five counts of disseminating indecent material to minors.

He is out on bail with a court date set for Oct. 14, according to the district attorney’s office

Calls to the charter school and a lawyer representing Jones were not immediately returned.
