NJ commuters have hellish week with massive train delays to Manhattan and a bus fire

New Jersey Transit is a real train wreck.

Garden State commuters are having the week from hell — with annoying delays snarling rail service on two major lines and a blazing bus fire breaking out on the New Jersey Turnpike.

A slow-speed derailment last Friday between the Millburn and Summit stations has caused lengthy delays on the Morris & Essex line to Penn Station all week, frustrating commuters.

New Jersey Transit cancelled 25 trains while repairing the tracks and had been expected to resume regular service Wednesday afternoon, according to northjersey.com — but on Thursday morning commuters still suffered through “reduced service.”

A spokesperson for New Jersey Transit didn’t immediately return an inquiry from The Post Thursday afternoon about why the problem hasn’t been fixed.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out on a New Jersey Transit bus running on the 113 line as it headed north on the Turnpike near Secaucus at around 6:12 a.m. Thursday.

The bus, which was scheduled to arrive at the Port Authority Bus Terminal 6:13 a.m., blew a tire that caused the blaze, according to ABC 7. Everyone on the bus was evacuated safely.

PATH trains between Hoboken and the World Trade Center and 33rd Street stations were also suspended  for roughly two hours Thursday morning as crews worked to repair a rail near Manhattan’s Christopher Street station, according to the Port Authority.

Service had resumed in both directions by about 7:30 a.m., but officials warned passengers to continue to expect delays throughout the day.
