On Circa’s Vegas-based Survivor Pool that has a $12 million prize pool, an astonishing 96.9 percent of Week 1 entries advanced to the next round.

Will Week 2 bring some surprises? I’m not so sure.

From Week 13-17 last season, favorites of six points or more were 29-1 straight up, with the only upset coming via the Giants over the Colts.

Favorites went 13-3 straight up (SU) in Week 1 and 9-7 against the spread (ATS).

With that in mind, I touched on my favorite survivor options for Week 2.

Survivor strategy and picks

Ravens

Joe Flacco and the Browns should have beaten the Bengals last week, but some poorly timed drops by receivers and a missed field goal made that fall apart quickly.

This week, they are 12.5-point underdogs against the Ravens, who are a fine pick for your pool if you are comfortable with using one of the league’s best teams this early.

Don’t forget, though, that the Browns defeated the Ravens last October as Jameis Winston lit up their secondary for 334 yards and three touchdowns.

Cleveland did not look terrible in Week 1, so don’t use all your entries up on what could be the most popular pick on the slate.

Cardinals

If you didn’t fade the Saints last week, the Cardinals are my top pick of the week.

Carolina was smashed by the Jaguars in Week 1, which is concerning since Jacksonville does not profile as a legitimate playoff team, at least right now.

It’s not a bad idea to get Arizona off the board early; it’s a long season, and Carolina looked inept.

Betting on the NFL?

Rams

If you did use the Cardinals last week, this is another strong choice. Rookie quarterbacks are typically a cash cow in terms of Survivor Pools.

Since 2015, rookie quarterbacks are 327-486-3 SU.

Don’t be afraid of fading Cam Ward on Sunday.
