New Movies on Streaming: ‘Americana,’ ‘Eden,’ + More

Sydney Sweeney appears in two of the biggest films to drop on VOD this weekend, Americana, the crime thriller that co-stars Halsey and Paul Walter Hauser, and Eden, the Ron Howard-directed story of European settlers in the Galapagos Islands.

If you want to check out the highest-grossing animated film of all time, that movie is on digital this weekend now, too. The Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2, based on the stories of deity Ne Zha, earned over $2.2 billion at the global box office, and it arrived on demand this week. Michelle Yeoh, Crystal Lee and Vincent Rodriguez III lead the voice cast.

Sydney Sweeney and Paul Walter Hauser star in the crime thriller Americana, a story about the lengths people will go to for money. Sweeney plays Penny Jo, a struggling waitress who dreams of hitting it big in Nashville and gets caught up in a criminal plot to steal a priceless Native American artifact. As rival criminals all try to get their hands on it, culminating in a true Western showdown.

In Ron Howard’s Eden, Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney, Ana De Armas and Daniel Brühl co-star as German expats who flee to Floreana Island in the Galapagos to settle there in search of a new beginning. Each has their own motives for relocation, and tensions brew, leading to in-fighting, violence, and death.
