Collier, 29, stood by her decision to pull back the curtain and blast the “worst leadership in the world” for poor officiating and stalled CBA negotiations — explaining that the persisting issues in the league had gone on long enough.

“I am on the union for CBA negotiations … and for so long, I felt like I saw what was going on behind closed doors,” Collier told Harris at the “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit.

“For so long, we tried to have these conversations and move the needle. … And I saw nothing was changing.”

The 2024 Defensive Player of the Year recounted private conversations with Engelbert during her scathing tell-all press conference following Minnesota’s playoff loss to the Phoenix Mercury.

Collier alleged that the WNBA commissioner said “Caitlin [Clark] should be grateful” for the WNBA and that “players should be on their knees thanking their lucky stars for the media rights deal that I got them.”

“I think I just got to the point where I was fed up,” Collier told Harris. “Whether I was going to get annihilated for this or people were gonna support me, I felt like what I was doing was right.

“I felt like it needed to be said. “I felt like it was something that needed to be done.”

Collier was scheduled to meet with Engelbert next week, but the Minnesota forward canceled the meeting after the commissioner denied making the comments that Collier listed in her fiery media address.

ESPN reported that Engelbert’s denials have “pretty much pushed the relationship beyond repair.”

The WNBA Players Association is pushing for higher salaries and increased revenue sharing as part of the CBA negotiations. If the two parties can’t reach an agreement before the Oct. 31 deadline, a lockout could be on the horizon.
