Najee Harris carted off with apparent Achilles injury in gutting Chargers scene
Chargers running back Najee Harris had to be carted to the locker room after suffering what the team is calling an ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Broncos.
The non-contact injury, which looked as though it might be an Achilles injury, occurred during the second quarter with a little more than five minutes to play before halftime at SoFi Stadium.

Justin Herbert had just gotten the ball when Harris took a step and went tumbling to the ground and he was in immediate pain and grabbing his left leg.
Herbert had to leap over Harris, who had gone down directly behind the Chargers QB, and did manage to complete a pass to wide receiver Quentin Johnston.
Members of the Chargers’ medical staff rushed onto the field to check on Harris and he had to be helped off, unable to put any pressure on his left leg.

He was eventually taken back to the Chargers locker room on a cart and Los Angeles announced that Harris was questionable to return due to an ankle injury, before later ruling him out for the rest of the game.
Before his injury, Harris had recorded six carries for 28 yards against the Broncos and he had nine carries for 33 yards in the Chargers’ first two games of the season.

Harris, a former Pro Bowler, had signed with the Chargers in March on a one-year, $9.5 million contract, but didn’t get on the field right away after he suffered an eye injury during an offseason fireworks accident that forced him to miss all of the preseason.
Harris had spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Steelers after they selected him with the 24th overall pick in the 2021 draft and did not miss any games during that stretch.
