Michigan receiver claims teammates ‘blackmailed’ Sherrone Moore during affair scandal

The fallout from the Sherrone Moore era is somehow getting uglier at Michigan.
Wide receiver Anthony Simpson, who transferred to Michigan last offseason from Massachusetts and entered the transfer portal last week — alleged in a since-deleted tweet that he was “treated unfairly” over playing time because Moore was “blackmailed” by players and staff members.

Michigan fired 39-year-old Moore with cause on Dec. 10 for engaging in an “inappropriate” relationship with his executive assistant Paige Shiver — and he was arrested by Pittsfield police later that day for an alleged assault.
“If I kept my mouth closed no one would know that I was a part of a scandal that impacted the team and impacted my chance to add to my production in college,” Simpson wrote on X, according to multiple reports. “Tried to stay at Michigan but the ‘GM’ [Sean Magee] said there wasn’t a roster spot for me. God has plans for us all and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me. Thank you Michigan ❤️🙏🏿
“Targets vs non targets, I was the best slot receiver for Michigan and I was treated unfairly due to [Sherrone] Moore being blackmailed by players and staff members. Which jeopardized my opportunity to get on the field.
“Fastest player on the team and I won reps every day in practice. Only there for fall camp. Our team captains also advocated for me to play. I was denied fairness.”
Michigan’s starting slot receiver, Semaj Morgan, appeared to weigh in.
“Y’all let people tell y’all anything and believe it,” he wrote, according to Click On Detroit.
Some former Wolverine players also chimed in.
“if only y’all knew and understood a .10 of what he really saying tho,” former wideout Cristian Dixon wrote, including a pair of crying laughing emojis, on X.
Former Michigan center Raheem Anderson added, “Dat part.”
Michigan athletics has not addressed the matter as of Wednesday.
Simpson announced on X that he has transferred to Toledo.
Last month, multiple sources told CBS that Moore’s sex scandal was Michigan’s “worst-kept” secret.
Washtenaw County Court
Moore, who was charged with felony home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering, is due in court Jan. 22.
Prosecutors said Moore broke into Shiver’s residence, grabbed butter knives and scissors from a kitchen drawer and told her, “I am going to kill myself. I’m going to make you watch. My blood is on your hands. You ruined my life.”
Moore’s bond was set at $25,000, and he is required to wear a GPS monitor and have no contact with Shiver, per conditions of his release.
Moore’s wife, Kelli, told an emergency dispatcher she was “worried my husband is going to hurt himself” after the news of his firing, as heard in a 911 audio call obtained by TMZ earlier this month.
