Michigan church shooter Thomas Sanford’s family ‘completely in shock’ over his deadly rampage
The father of Michigan church shooter Thomas Jacob Sanford said his family is “devastated” in the wake of his son’s deadly rampage, and that they have “no answer” for why the decorated Marine and married father would have done something so evil.
The elder Thomas Sanford described his son — who died in a shootout with police outside the Latter-day Saints church in Grand Blanc, Michigan after driving his pickup truck through the front door and setting the building on fire — as a loving father and husband.

“He was an ex-Marine and we are completely in shock over this; we have no answers,” he said in a statement to NBC News.
“We are asking for privacy as we grieve our loss and those of the others.”
Four people were killed in the mass shooting and fire attack, and eight others were wounded, two of whom remain in critical condition.
Grand Blanc Police Chief William Reyne said at a press conference Monday that all church members who were present when the attack took place have now been accounted for.
