But the besties soon had a cryptic fallout, with insiders claiming to the Daily Mail that the demise of their yearslong friendship “later caused tensions” in Mulroney’s marriage.
The stylist, 45, became estranged from the “Suits” alum, 44, when Mulroney was accused of racism in 2020 after allegedly threatening influencer Sasha Exeter’s career.
After the rumor mill was spun into overdrive, the fashion guru issued a groveling apology — prompting her then-husband to quit his TV presenter job to help her.
“If [Jessica] could go back, a part of her wishes she was never part of [Markle and Prince Harry’s 2018] wedding,” an insider told the outlet.
“While she enjoyed all the exposure it brought her at the time, that same exposure is what caused her social media rift to blow up in the way it did and led to the end of her friendship with Meghan and her marriage.”
The source added that while Mulroney “did consider Meghan family,” she now “sees that whole time as a ‘dark cloud.’”
The Post has reached out to reps for Markle and Mulroney for comment.
Mulroney shares daughter Ivy and twin sons Brian and John with her ex, who is the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
She fashion guru attended Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018, with their daughter being a flower girl while her sons served as page boys.
Mulroney then made a quick, blink-and-you-missed-it appearance in the “Archetypes” podcast host’s 2022 Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan.”
But their friendship took a turn for the worse when the Toronto-based influencer accused of exhibiting “white privilege” during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Despite the mother of three apologizing to Exeter, the fashionista was fired from her contracts with Hudson’s Bay, ABC, Cityline and CTV, for which she often did TV appearances due to her fashion and style expertise.
The scandal is said to have caused a rift between the pals, who had been close since 2011.
Following their fallout, Mulroney had suggested that her friendship with the former actress remained intact, and that the duo were still close.
But actions spoke louder than words, and fans soon noticed that the ex-BBFs stopped posting about each other in 2021.
