Meet Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Your New Princess Zelda And Link In Nintendo’s Upcoming Live-Action ‘Legend Of Zelda’ Movie


The live-action Legend of Zelda film has finally found its lead stars to portray Princess Zelda and Link.

Nintendo‘s Shigeru Miyamoto announced the casting on social media with a glimpse of up-and-coming actors Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth.

“This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,” he wrote. “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

Miyamoto also shared a first glimpse of the actors in costume, hinting that development is ramping up on the highly anticipated film.

Bragason is a 21-year-old actress whose career began in 2017 with an appearance in Three Girls. She has since appeared in Renegade Nell, The Jetty, and The Radleys. She is currently set to appear in the upcoming BBC series King and Conqueror.

As for Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, the 16-year-old actor has starred in The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Sandman, and Son of a Critch. He also voiced Pinocchio in the 2022 feature starring Tom Hanks and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Miyamoto also shared that The Legend of Zelda movie is still some ways away, however.

The film is scheduled to release May 7, 2027.

The live-action Legend of Zelda film was first announced in 2023. Miyamoto is attached to produce alongside former Marvel Studios founder Avi Arad.

Deadline reports Wes Ball is set to direct. Ball previously directed The Maze Runner franchise and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

T.S. Nowlin, who wrote The Maze Runner franchise as well as Pacific Rim: Uprising and The Adam Project, is writing the screenplay.
