The trouble arose at some fast-food locations last week after Micky D’s brought back the one-time staple item on July 10, according to a company message obtained by The Wall Street Journal.
The stock of shredded lettuce, one of the ingredients of a Snack Wrap, took a severe hit due the high demand of the revived menu item.
To cope with the conundrum, roughage reeling McDonald’s joints were told to hold off on adding lettuce to McChicken sandwiches — and if customers grimaced at the change, employees were told to push McDoubles and McNuggets, the newspaper reported.
McDonald’s told the Journal that the lettuce deficiency didn’t last long and the leafy greens have since been replenished at affected locations.
“We’ve been blown away by the response,” the Golden Arches said in a statement to the outlet.

Snack Wraps returned to the regular McDonald’s menu in a bid to woo customers back under the Arches after the company saw a dip in US sales in the last financial quarter, the WSJ reported.

The delectable nosh consists of fried or grilled chicken strips, shredded cheese, special sauce, and romaine lettuce wrapped in a flour tortilla and can be spicy or ranch flavored. An individual wrap costs $2.99.
McDonald’s did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
