Mayor Mamdani’s inauguration: Letters | New York Post

The Issue: Mayor Mamdani’s inauguration, officially making him New York City’s 112th mayor.

It’s insane to me that New York City, my former home, beginning Jan. 1, 2026, has officially descended into what can only be described as chaos and incompetence (“The Commie of a new era,” Jan. 2).

“Elections have consequences,” goes the old saying. Well, all New Yorkers have to brace themselves for what is to come.

I sincerely feel sorry for the friends and family I left behind. I know they didn’t vote for this. We can only hope Mayor Mamdani will be a one-and-done mayor.

I hope that Mamdani learned the No. 1 rule of Economics at Bowdoin College: If you rob Peter enough times to pay for Paul, Peter just leaves.

May Mamdani fail soon and fail often. And may he take Gov. Hochul with him.

The Democratic Party as we once knew it is dead. They are so fixated on destroying President Trump that they’ve turned the party over to Sen. Bernie Sanders.

All you had to do was look at the massive crowds and the honored speakers who were at the inauguration of Mamdani. It was a sea of commies. RIP, New York City.

Sylvia Kane

Brooklyn

It was the same old arrogant Democratic socialist tripe on display at Mamdani’s inauguration.

There are two main principles of effective leadership: Never mistake activity for achievement, and success is determined by results, not intentions. You never hear the specific metrics of success Mamdani will use to evaluate performance. You only get empty, failed socialist rhetoric.

Good luck, New York City!

New York City, I cry for you. I won’t be back to visit until the hate-filled Zohran Mamdani is gone. Eric Adams is missed already.

To the honest, taxpaying citizens of NYC: Now that your new mayor has been sworn in, life inside the city limits will never be the same. Once the greatest city on earth, it’ll now spiral downward faster than when former Mayor Bill de Blasio’s crew took over.

Wealthy taxpayers will flee to friendlier environs; welfare cheats will flock to New York City, so they can live for free; drug addicts and illegal migrants will defile the sidewalks; tourism will evaporate (along with the billions of dollars it brings in); shoplifters will be free to pillage without recourse, while the average shopkeeper will be ruined by excessive taxation, and police protection on the street will disappear.

Don Tyndall

Allentown, Pa.

It would’ve been appropriate for AC/DC to perform “Highway to Hell” at Mamdani’s inauguration ceremony as a prelude to the future of New York City.

The Issue: Investigations into Rep. Ilhan Omar’s wealth following recent fraud scandals in Minnesota.

While Rep. Ilhan Omar’s net worth has increased to $30 million, a growing number of people are overworked, tired, worried and rightfully angry about affordability (“Probe into Rep. Omar’s $udden gains,” Dec. 30).

Apparently, the superfluous wealth desires of the few, and especially the one, increasingly outweigh the needs of the many.

The more they make, the more they want. It’s never enough.

So, Omar got rich overnight when she helped enable a multibillion-dollar scam. I guess it really is “all about the Benjamins” with her.
