Masked, gun-toting duo rip $75K in jewelry from Westchester homeowner

Two masked gunmen burst into a nearly $2 million New Rochelle pad in the dead of night Saturday and pistol-whipped a man before snatching $75,000 worth of bling from his body, cops said.

The ordeal unfolded around 1:25 a.m. as the 25-year-old victim was returning to his 3,000-square-foot mansion on Kewanee Road, the New Rochelle Police Department said in a news release.

The victim was treated for minor injuries.

One neighbor described him as a “young kid” that’s lived in the house for about a year – and recalled waking up to the sound of “male voices” overnight.

“I remember hearing yelling and hearing a car driving off on that street,” said the man, who declined to give his name.

He couldn’t see what was happening in the darkness, nor through the thick trees that line the typically serene, suburban neighborhood which borders Scarsdale.

“Not that it’s unusual to hear screaming at night, but I wasn’t freaked out by it. This is a quiet neighborhood – I feel very safe,” the neighbor continued.

“I don’t feel like it was somebody who is randomly attacking houses.”

Cops were still canvassing the area.

Detectives classified the incident – which they called targeted and isolated – as a home invasion robbery, but declined to say where in the 11-room home it occurred.

The suspects are believed to be in their 20s or 30s, according to the release.

There have yet to be any arrests – leaving some area residents shaken.

“I’m definitely going to lock my door,” said Lonnie Jones, a 24-year-old neighbor who works in marketing.

“This is a surprise to me – big time,” echoed another resident who’s lived in the area since 2016. “It’s not something I’d expect in this neighborhood.”
