Sanchez, who works as an analyst for Fox Sports, was in the city to broadcast the Colts’ game against the Raiders on Sunday.
Now, he remains in stable condition after being rushed to a local hospital, the network revealed in a statement.
The police said that the stabbing occurred after Sanchez and another man got into an altercation after midnight outside Loughmiller’s in downtown Indianapolis.
Loughmiller’s bartender Carrie Swan told The Post her manager Scott Bennett tended to Sanchez after he found the retired NFL star bleeding outside the pub.
“The manager brought him in and started putting towels on the wound,” she said.
“It’s nuts, absolutely nuts,” Swan continued. “Normally, we don’t see this kind of violence on this side of town.”
A rep for Fox Sports said Sanchez “is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition.”
“We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”
Before tragedy struck, Sanchez was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Jets, where he earned the nickname “The Sanchize.”
The former football player lead the team to two consecutive AFC Championship games during first two years in the league.
Sanchez most recently found lasting love with Perry Mattfeld, whom he married in 2023.
But prior to tying the knot, the athlete dated some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Keep reading for a look back at his dating history.
Jamie-Lynn Sigler
Sanchez dated Jamie-Lynn Sigler, 44, for three months in 2010.
Allegedly, a source told Page Six at the time that the pair split due to the Jets quarterback’s wandering eye.
At the time, Sanchez was repeatedly spotted chatting up other women along with checking out the Broadway show “Memphis,” where rumors swirled he had his sights set on a chorus girl.
A source told the outlet, “It was a mutual decision, but Jamie-Lynn was ready to move on from Mark. He is 23 and determined to prove he’s a hot commodity by playing the field, but she is 29 and is looking for a more mature and stable relationship.”
“They have been heading in different directions,” they elaborated. “Jamie-Lynn is focused on coming back to New York to star in ‘Love, Loss and What I Wore’ off-Broadway, while he’s heading upstate to train with the Jets.”
“As far as Jamie is concerned, she is back in New York, she is single and she is looking better than ever.”
Kate Upton
In 2011, Sanchez cozied up to Kate Upton, 33.
The model and the New Yorker were first linked in December 2011. At the time, Sanchez was spotted heading over to Upton’s Flatiron apartment late at night.
Sources revealed, per Page Six, that Sanchez been seen carrying Christmas gifts for the actress into the building.
They added that Sanchez would often arrived at the building a few minutes after Upton did.
“They never come in together. He’s always five steps after her,” the insider added.
In Feb. 2012, Upton played coy about their relationship, replying when TMZ asked if they were a couple: “I don’t know. It’s whatever you think.”
However, the pair called it quits within the year.
In 2013, after Notre Dame played poorly during the BSC Championship game, Upton cheekily tweeted: “It’s okay Notre Dame this happened to the Jets every week.”
Eva Longoria
Sanchez dated Eva Longoria, 50, in 2012.
“She’s been with him a lot,” a source told the Post after the duo was spotted at dinner in September of that year.
Just a month later Longoria and Sanchez were done.
The “Desperate Housewives” star and Jets alum broke up after four months of dating.
A source told Page Six that while Sanchez was “very focused” on football, Longoria was busy doing a lot of philanthropic and political work, and developing a number of TV shows.
One in particular was the NBC dating series “Ready for Love.”
A rep for Sanchez told the outlet, “It was really more about scheduling . . . they will remain close friends.”
Perry Mattfeld
In June 2023, Sanchez tied the knot with his now-wife, Perry Mattfeld.
The couple’s nuptials took place over Memorial Day weekend in Oaxaca, Mexico, a year after getting engaged.
“Our union is a celebration of our special bond in front of friends and family, and a promise to each other and those closest to us to be strong and supportive towards each other in our future challenges, successes and failures,” Sanchez gushed to People at the time.
“It was really emotional and special for us,” said Mattfeld.
The pair was first introduced in 2017 by Scotty McKnight, who was a lifelong friend of Sanchez’s and briefly played on the Jets.
The couple swapped handwritten vows during the “emotional” ceremony.
Sanchez’s son, Daniel, served as a groomsman and ring bearer.
“It was so special to be able to read our vows with him beside us,” Mattfeld reminisced.
Sanchez and Mattfeld welcomed their daughters this past spring.
The “Shameless” star told Glamour in September: “We dated for a while even though we were always kind of apart because I was filming ‘In the Dark’ in Toronto for four years, and he was still playing. It only took six years to get engaged. And then we’ve been married for about two years and had twins in March.”
