Margaret Qualley wants to set mom Andie MacDowell up with Bill Murray

During Thursday’s appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” Margaret Qualley revealed she’s hoping to hook her famous mom, Andie MacDowell, up with Bill Murray, after meeting him backstage moments earlier.

“Bill Murray, literally tonight, he pops into my backstage dressing room,” the “Substance” starlet, 30, began. “He’s wearing a Piggly Wiggly shirt. And I grew up in North Carolina, and Piggly Wiggly’s a Southern thing.”

“I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, Piggly Wiggly!’ Then, cut to, I found out he’s living in Charleston. My mom’s living in Charleston,” Qualley continued.

Despite living in the same city and starring together in the classic 1993 movie “Groundhog Day,” Murray, 74, had some bad news about his relationship with her mother.

“I’m gonna give you the tea,” the “Poor Things” actress shared. “He was like, ‘You know, your mom and I — we didn’t get along so good while we were making that movie.’”

“He was like, ‘She took a lot of time to get her hair done, and she didn’t know her lines this one time,’” Qualley added. “I was like, ‘Yeah, well, I heard a different story, sir.’”

However, Qualley would not be deterred from setting her mom up with the “Ghostbusters” star.

“I’m putting two and two together. He’s living in Charleston. She’s living in Charleston. They’ve got this kind of rage towards each other, but maybe he’s trying to make amends,” she explained. “And I’m like, ‘She’s single, he’s single. They’re both crazy. Let’s get it together!’”

“I said to come circle back and get my number if he wants to connect with my mom. And, you know, if he’s got any sense at all, he’d be the luckiest guy in the world!” Qualley added.

“I hope he’s listening right now,” she concluded. “Hi, Bill!”

MacDowell and the “Honey Don’t!” star’s father, Paul Qualley, divorced in 1999 after 13 years of marriage. Besides Margaret, the former couple shares son Justin Qualley and daughter Rainey Qualley.

The “Ready or Not” actress opened up about her kids and her decision to ditch Los Angeles for Charleston during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” earlier this year.

MacDowell revealed that she made the movie to fill the “huge void” in her life that came from becoming an empty nester.

“I’m happier now than I have been in a long time,” she said in January. “Margaret really was kind of telling me I was supposed to be having the time of my life, but I wasn’t.”

“But now I am,” the “Four Weddings and a Funeral” star added. “I’m having the time of my life now. It’s really good.”

As for Qualley, she also discussed her former model-turned-movie star mom earlier this month during the new cover story for Cosmopolitan’s Fall 2025 issue.

More than 40 years before the “Kinds of Kindness” star posed for the magazine’s latest issue, MacDowell did the same for the outlet’s September 1982 cover.

“It’s iconic—she looks amazing,” Qualley said of her mom’s shoot.
