Maniac chops up mom, stores bagged remains in freezer because she gave her life ‘to darkness:’ police

A deranged Arizona man strangled his own mother to death and chopped up her body, claiming she was part of a “group of people giving their lives to darkness,” police said.

Leroy Vallejos, 48, made the chilling confession to the gruesome slaying after Albuquerque police found a bloody saw and body parts stuffed in a freezer inside the home, KRQE-TV News reported.

Police said Vallejos told cops he killed 69-year-old Ernestina Lucero because he believed she was part of a group that was conspiring against him, according to the outlet.

Lucero was reported missing on Oct. 23 , but only after cops said Vallejos withdrew cash with her debit card, sold her car — then called his mother’s home health care company to say she was missing but he wanted to be paid for her care, the report said.

The suspicious call sent cops to the home for a welfare check, with Vallejos claiming his mom was traveling and was in Mexico.

However, police didn’t buy the story when they noticed her medication was still in the house, according to the report.

Human body parts — later identified as Lucero by the local coroner — were then found inside garbage bags stuffed in a large freezer, with the bloodied saw still hidden under the sink, KRQE said.

Vallejos was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence and is being held without bail at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center, online records show.
