Loved ones of man missing in Turks and Caicos waiting for coroner to confirm body found is his
Relatives of a Manhattan man who disappeared on Turks and Caicos are waiting on a coroner’s report to determine if a body found on the Caribbean island is the missing man, a private investigator hired by his family told The Post.
The decomposing body — one of two found hours apart in unrelated cases — was discovered shortly after 9 a.m. on July 5, just a 20-minute walk from the hotel where Brian Tarrence and his wife were staying on the British territory, former NYPD cop Carl DeFazio said.

“The investigation into the disappearance of Brian is still ongoing,” DeFazio said in an email Wednesday. “We’re awaiting results from the coroner’s office as to proper identification.”
He said there is no link between that body and a second one found hours later in another section of the island, as that case is part of a murder investigation.
“No link,” DeFazio said. “Two separate cases.”
Tarrence, 51, of Midtown, flew to the British territory on June 25 for a romantic anniversary getaway to the Paradise Inn in Grace Bay with his wife, Maria.
Three days later, he left the room around 3:30 a.m. and vanished while his wife slept.
Tarrence, a vice president with Diligent Software in Manhattan, had lived upstate Monroe but moved to the Big Apple after his wife’s son enrolled in college in the city.
Neighbors in his Orange County town said the family largely kept to themselves.
