‘Live’s Kelly Ripa Mixed Up Her Contour and Foundation in the Dark of Her Room This Morning: “If I Look Strange To You Today, It Is Because I Was Putting Contour All Over My Face”


Kelly Ripa rang in the new year with an unintentional new makeup routine.

As she and Mark Consuelos kicked off their first live episode of Live with Kelly and Mark of 2026 on Monday, Ripa noticed something on Consuelos’ jacket. After apologizing and attempting to wipe it off, Ripa revealed a slight makeup mishap she experienced this morning.

“I’m gonna tell you a story. This morning, I woke up. I was very disoriented. We’d been on vacation. Didn’t know where I was,” she began.

Ripa explained that she “started getting ready a little bit in the dark,” noting that she does not like to “illuminate the room” as she begins putting on her make-up.

“So I reach for my foundation stick and I start putting it on, and something doesn’t look right, but I keep going. I keep going. I just keep adding more, and more, and more, and more,” she continued. “And if I look strange to you today, it is because I was putting contour all over my face.”

Consuelos assured his wife and co-host that she still “look[ed] great,” as

“I look like I’ve been somewhere,” she teased. “Everybody’s like, ‘Oh, you’re tan.’ I’m like, ‘I’m not. It’s contour stick as foundation.’”

As DECIDER previously reported, Live was on a brief holiday break last week. According to a production source, episodes that aired over the break still featured brand new, never-before-seen content, as well as some of Live‘s most memorable interviews. The daytime talk show returned today with a new, live episode and welcoming guests Lucy Liu and Billy Gardell.
