Lincoln University mass shooting leaves at least 5 injured during homecoming event


A mass shooting broke out at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania during a homecoming event Saturday night, leaving at least five people injured, according to authorities and reports.

Gunfire erupted just after 9 p.m. during a tailgate and yardfest event near the football field at the Chester county campus, about 50 miles west of Philadelphia, CBS News reported.

Police found at least five gunshot victims, who were rushed to Christiana Hospital in various conditions, according to ABC 6 News.

“The Chester County District Attorney’s Office is aware of a shooting with multiple victims that occurred at Lincoln University this evening,” the Chester County District Attorney’s Office said in a Facebook post around 10:30 p.m.

“Law enforcement has responded to the scene and are actively investigating. Please avoid the area at this time. More updates will be released as information is confirmed.”

It is unclear if a suspect has been taken into custody.

Police have not yet released any information.

“Please join me in praying for the students and faculty of Lincoln University, as well as the brave members of law enforcement on the scene,” Chester County Commissioner Eric Roe wrote on Facebook.

“It appears there has been a mass shooting there tonight.”
