“Normally, what I would do for guest star people — which were usually men — I would go and try to proactively be friendly, because it is such a scary situation,” Davis told Moynahan, 54.
Davis explained that since Moynahan played Natasha, Mr. Big’s (Chris Noth) wife and Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) “nemesis,” she “internalized Charlotte’s worldview.”
“I don’t think I was that nice to you,” Davis admitted. “I feel really bad about that, Bridget.”
But Moynahan was quick to forgive her former co-star.
“It’s okay now,” she said with a laugh. “‘Don’t worry!”
Moynahan joined “Sex and the City” in a recurring role in 1999. She reprised her role as Natasha in a 2021 episode of the sequel series, “And Just Like That.”
On the podcast, Davis and Moynahan recalled how despite their rocky beginning, they eventually became friends.
“We would run into each other at the gym all the time,” Moynahan said, adding that she was confused at the time why Davis was “being so nice” to her.
“By then, we weren’t in our characters anymore,” Davis explained. “And I could just be a normal person.”
Davis also admitted that she felt “so silly” that her character in the show affected her real-life behavior.
“I was less forgiving if you were somebody that I felt like was threatening my friend,” the “Melrose Place” alum told Moynahan, before noting that “time and distance” helped her separate her professional and personal lives.
Moynahan, for her part, recalled that fans of the beloved series disliked her because of onscreen persona.
“‘Because they all love Big and Carrie together and somehow I was in the way,” Tom Brady’s ex said. “I actually said out loud sometimes, ‘No, she was having an affair with my husband. Let’s break this down.’”
“Sex and the City” aired from 1998 to 2004 and starred Davis, Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon as four female friends navigating life in New York City.
The series was followed by two feature films, which came out in 2008 and 2010, and “And Just Like That,” which ended in May after three seasons.
Davis launched her “Are You a Charlotte?” podcast in January and has welcomed several of her former co-stars as guests, including Parker, Nixon and Mario Cantone.
